Maeko in documentary Ethical Braids

We are very excited to be part of this beautiful project.
The documentary Intrecci Etici wants to tell the story of the slow fashion movement in Italy, to make people aware of such a sensitive issue and to show that it is possible to make more responsible choices even with regard to the clothes we buy and wear.

Fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world and it is a problem that concerns us all.
This sector is credited with 20% of global water waste, 10% of carbon dioxide emissions, and not only that, 85% of the clothes produced end up in landfills and only 1% are actually recycled. Not to mention the low prices of fast fashion, behind which lie unfair wages and the lack of regulations to protect workers.
Intrecci Etici tells how a revolution is underway in Italy to make the fashion industry more sustainable.
This change is before our eyes: from those who deal in natural fibres and fabrics like us, to those who only produce to order, to those who turn waste into resources, to those who employ the most fragile people, to those who have decided to stay local.

While we producers are making a real effort to make fashion more ethical and sustainable, we have to keep in mind that sustainability is an attitude that has to start with the consumers first.

We all have the power to change things, step by step, with our wallets and everyday choices.

The documentary can be found on Infinity and if you are not subscribed you can watch the whole thing for free for 7 days.
