The extract of Chlorophyll is mainly made from green plants such as alfalfa and nettles.

This natural pigment, available in powder form, is used to dye fabrics and yarns of natural origin, offering a range of shades from bright green to olive green. The powder is easily dissolved in hot water and, in combination with a mordant, provides an even and lasting colouration.

Generally, an amount of extract equal to 10-50% of the weight of the material to be dyed is used. The fabrics are soaked in the solution for 30-60 minutes, stirring regularly to ensure homogeneous absorption of the colour.

After dyeing, it is important to rinse the fabrics in cold water and let them dry in the shade to maintain the vibrancy and depth of the green tones obtained.

Extracts

The powder extracts are a concentrated form of natural pigment, obtained from plants, flowers, roots, animal sources and minerals. These extracts are stable, keep for a long time and allow for precise dosing, making them ideal for those who wish to colour yarns and fabrics naturally.

Please note that the photo is for illustrative purposes only: the color of the natural extracts may differ from that shown in the shop, but the quality is always guaranteed and tested before distribution.

Doses and timing

Maeko avoids going into details concerning proportions, doses and specific times, leaving such information to those who already have experience in natural dyeing.

It is essential that those approaching this process have the freedom to experiment and adapt the techniques according to their own needs and experience.

Here we offer an extensive showcase, designed to encourage the practice of hand-dyeing and stimulate everyone's creativity.
