Those who have been following us for a while already know: we are tireless!
When there are projects that talk about nature, yarns and recovering traditions, we can't help but throw ourselves headlong into new adventures.
In this case it is a project we are carrying out with Gloria, founder of Wovenbeyond.
In the UK, as in Italy and most European countries, sheep farmers are often forced to dispose of or sell off their sheep's wool at low prices in favour of importing Chinese wool or Merino wool from Australia.
However, Europe has a very ancient history of wool and native breeds and it is a shame that biodiversity and traditions are being lost. That is why with Gloria, who lives in London, we are creating a network of breeders throughout the UK who raise native sheep breeds and then spin their wool in Biella in our spinning plant.
Thanks to the ability to spin even small quantities (starting from 20 kg), breeders have the opportunity to create yarns with their own wool, creating new economic income in a sector that, as we know, is experiencing many difficulties. But what if we told you that English sheep breeds are many and beautiful? What if we told you that there are plenty of women in the UK who lovingly rear their sheep?
