Mauro Vismara founded Maekò to produce comfortable fabrics with special beneficial properties.

In 1998, Mauro Vismara decided to give up physiotherapy for good in order to produce comfortable and resistant fabrics, with a careful and scientific choice of particular vegetable fibres.

This is how Maeko Tessuti was born, combining Mauro Vismara's passion for natural fibres and his desire to produce fabrics - strictly natural and made in Italy - customising them with his experience as an osteopath to make them softer but still resistant. The first hemp garments were born and from here he experimented with new fibres to create new yarns and new weaves.
