We are pleased to announce the start of a promising collaboration between Maeko and Komodra Business Group, which will enable us to source the valuable pineapple fibre from Indonesia.

This fibre is sustainably produced through responsible agricultural practices, such as pesticide-free cultivation, and then processed using natural enzymes, thus ensuring a reduced environmental impact.

Pineapple fibre, extracted from the leaves of this tropical fruit, represents one of the most fascinating innovations in the world of sustainable fashion. For centuries, it has been used in various Asian cultures for the creation of ceremonial clothing and high fashion garments. Today, it is gaining increasing global recognition due to its exceptional ecological qualities and versatility of use.

Komodra Business Group, founded by Ahmad, Federico and Muhamad, is committed to developing sustainable solutions for the fashion industry, a sector known for its high environmental impact. The vision of these entrepreneurs is to promote a circular economy model, valorising agricultural waste and offering new income opportunities to rural communities. By transforming pineapple leaves into fibre, we reduce waste and create valuable resources.

Pineapple fibre is not only light and strong, it is also highly breathable, making it ideal for high-quality fabrics, clothing, accessories and even environmentally friendly alternatives to leather. Thanks to our sustainable approach, the manufacturing process avoids the use of harmful chemicals, ensuring that the fibre is fully biodegradable and compostable.

With this commitment to sustainability, Maeko, together with Komodra Business Group, aims to raise standards in yarn and fabric production in Italy, contributing to a more responsible and environmentally friendly future in the textile industry. We are excited to embark on this journey and bring a new level of excellence in the use of natural fibres.
